This episode is called “Los Angeles Traffic” which is right up there with “LGB Tease“ for worst title of a L Word episode. To kick us off, Angie walks in on her moms K-I-S-S-I-N-G. They try to lie and say that they were just talking, but Angie sees right through them and runs out of the house in distress. Bette wants to go after her, but Tina is like, “no let’s fuck.” They have breathy, “you’re so beautiful“ sex. I don’t love this development but if being a lesbian prepares you for anything, it’s watching a really toxic couple get back together.
Speaking of toxic people, Dani is angry at Gigi because Nat, Gigi’s ex-wife and co-parent, wants to get to know Dani before Gigi and her kids move into Dani’s weird, concrete loft. Wow, Dani sucks!! It’s like she’s jealous of Nat and the kids, or disappointed that she’s not the only person in Gigi’s life.
Over in a beautiful concrete box full of expired vanity hair product, Tess is breathing on Shane’s nipples and cajoling her into opening another bar. According to Tess, Dana’s is the only lesbian bar in LA and a second one would be “so glam.“ It’s pure L Word logic that the second bar has to be directly next to the first and not in another neighborhood. Tess is about to go down on Shane when she gets a call from a real estate agent—she’s already arranged for an inspector to go through the building. Clearly, Tess is all in on Dana’s 2 and it doesn’t really matter how Shane feels. Shane, meanwhile, is texting Kehlani. As Tess ramps up the business endeavors, Shane is getting closer and closer to cheating. Gen Q is endearing at times and I feel a certain affection for it, but I refuse to sit through yet another Shane cheating storyline. It’s so tired. Shane is like 45 years old. How does she have the energy? Why is she even in a monogamous relationship? She and Quiara were in an open marriage.
