Oh my god, I just remembered a half-assed diary entry the night of the Gore-Bush election. (I know results took ages due to…everything, but I was so morose and convinced Bush won. I was right!) I found that diary years later with nothing in it but that entry sometime during the Obama era. I remember naively chuckling as I threw it away, feeling very assured that “it gets better.” Yikes.

Happy New Year! So happy to be a subscriber. Enjoying my copies of the dykeventure zines as I recover from a New Year’s hysterectomy✨. Wishing you and your partner and your pups a wonderful new year!

Small update: I finished all of the first Dykeventure zine last night, and I had SO MUCH FUN! I’m still trying to make myself pick a favorite ending. I think the threeway is cute, but there’s just something about Griz and Cassandra… Also, it made me appreciate just how much engineering goes into a choose your own adventure! You had to keep track of a lot. (Shoutout to R. L. Stine as well; he’d be proud.)

And thank you for the well wishes!

Shoutout to childhood anxiety in the early/mid-2000s; in one of my elementary diaries, I wrote about the 2008 "receshon"

It was such a unique flavor of anxiety! Thank you for seeing me. I was very concerned with the possibility of someone mailing me a letter filled with anthrax. Also, just starting to feel weird/self-conscious about my body and BAM, 9/11 happened.

Hiiiii can you help with some book recs?? I'm looking for stuff with some sexy stuff in it!! Not like a romance novel but just a book where there's some flirting / sex / etc that's hot and fun. Ty!!!

I would definitely check out Trust and Safety by Eve Gleichman and Laura Blackett, which is about a couple who decide to move to the country and the wife, who's always thought of herself as straight, finds herself fixated on the queer couple who are renting a guest house in the backyard.

Not queer, but last night I motored through Margo's Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe, which is about a young single mom who starts an OnlyFans. It's so funny and goofy, but also has real stakes and I really appreciated a triumphant underdog story this week.

I also wanna suggest Luster by Raven Leilani, The Pisces by Melissa Broder, and All Fours by Miranda July, sex and affair novels about women who are very horny and have dark, surreal undertones (The Pisces is about a human woman hooking up with a merman lol).
