This was such a joy to read!! And the weed to excessive goofiness while grad school gf is studying pipeline is deeply relatable to me. As a reader I absolutely welcome one of these grub style missives whenever you feel compelled to share 🫡

What a great article about the daily decisions of food, preparation or procurement. I love the way you meld Somerville and Wisconsin. What a gifted writer you are! You make food fun.

I am making a NYT soup recipe for lunch while reading this article! Totally unplanned, and it is also just water and vegetables. Hopefully it is not bad! Also, tamale pies slap--the cornbread goes so hard.

I loved this, what a great glimpse into your day-to-day. Makes me think I should ask the lady I’m seeing for some coffeehouse work dates. Stay warm and lesbian up there in Somerville! 💖

This is very relatable!!!

My lover loves lifesaver gummies so I keep some in my car now and I like them! I’m a freak who has two flavors of licorice in my car at all times (the Panda brand) plus a sensible gummy like sour gummy worms.

My former roomie and bff is diabetic and he taught me about gummies and I’ve never been the same.

This was really fun to read!! My current long Covid journey lends me to eating a lot of plain rice because sometime strong flavors are indigestible!

This was great. Really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for helping me procrastinate my mountainous inbox. I've been meaning to check out that Tamale pie recipe too, this was the final sign I needed.

This is delightful.

Also Revival Cafe's caesar salad is a perfect mix of homey and a little fancy.

omg this makes me miss living in that area of Somerville SO MUCH. So many amazing places to eat all in walking distance. Highly recommend Three Little Figs for a fun gay cafe experience and Pennypackers in Magoun Square for the best sandwiches in the worldddd

Love Serious Eats & Kenji. One of the things I'm most proud of is that SE followed me back on IG when I used to be a chef and they still follow me for some reason. It must have been a mistake but it makes me feel really special LOL. This is one of my all time fave Serious Eats recipes:

https://www.seriouseats.com/the-best-roast-potatoes-ever-recipe

Usually any recipe that touts itself as being "the best ever" is pretty fart, but this truly is thee best roast potat cooking method ever. full stop. For any vegan folks reading, the recipe works super well with EVOO or Veg oil instead of duck fat/lard. Also If you're not feeling up to it, the infusing the oil step can be skipped. The potats come out tasting triple fried and they even stay crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside when at room temp. Maddy, lets start a sapphic recipe blog together. We can call it "Sizzlin' Sappho" and I'll design us merch but it has to be embroidered corduroy cottage core hats with garlic cloves on them.

I enjoyed this so much. Man, I miss randomly colliding with the delightful specifics of other people's lives. It's the thing I miss most about office work. Tell me about lunch, yours, and I will tell you mine.
