YESSS at tiff , there was a q & a after and they were *so* funny about the whole thing that i think maybe (maybe!) they wouldn’t have minded if more than a few chuckles slipped out
quite a wild watch for me as having been a pretty big fan since 2008 and on tumblr at the time, but never actually knew the extent of the hack - i saw leaked demos at the time and thought it was a one time cloud hack just for the music, not the rest of it.
jaime the archivist is a legend to the fans for how many shows she's recorded, esp bc the songs of each show might be basically the same but they tell difft stories and jokes each night. AND recorded well - anyone looking for live concert footage knows this is not universal).
Thank you so much for writing this review, I watched the doc and came away with the same feelings (and also thought Tara was trans, which, weird choice for the doc makers). I was def hoping for more actual internet tech sleuthing rather than just wild conjecture through heresay but hey, it was a real commentary on queer social circles and im not mad about it.
Ahh totally agree they leaned in too hard at trying to make it really true crimey! I feel like I’ve had this experience with several documentaries I’ve watched recently. Thank you for summing it up so tidily: “…streaming/algorithm culture makes everything dumber. This didn’t need to be a true crime movie.” 😆
lol 44 year olds can have nice skin without botox—being straight is what ages you prematurely!!!
We actually received this exact wisdom from a 47-year-old dyke at women's week with very smooth skin who said her secret was being gay with no kids.
BOOM
haha totally but they have fewer wrinkles than me. i also generally believe that all famous people get botox!
def very likely and possible in many/most cases 😂
the fegan emails/texts got the biggest gasps (and quickly stifled giggles as both tegan and sara were in the crowd) in the theatre 💀
you watched it in a theater WITH THEM THERE?!? that is insane

sooo sweet to hear that about jaime. i'm obsessed with her just from the 2 minutes she was featured in the doc!
"and yet... no friends were made."

i also thought they made her sound trans - it’s such a classic trope to code the villain as queer 🫠
Omg
