Congratulations!! Homeownership is exciting but also quite scary. Thinking of it brings out commitment issues (to the house) I didn’t know I had. So glad you didn’t waive an inspection, though! Everyone in MA has had to do that lately, and I think it’s terrible that it’s even legal to essentially force someone to do.

Also, congrats on the TikTok!! I am very tempted to make an account. Keep us updated on it so I can continue to be tempted!

Thank you so much :') It's wild in New England. When we lived in Somerville, a very normal single family home on our block sold for 2.7 million. In lieu of a real inspection, I've also heard of people paying an inspector to tour the house and look for obvious problems before they make an offer. I guess the idea is so they can feel more confident waiving inspection , but you're still paying hundreds of dollars for a really lax semi-inspection and your offers might not be accepted :/

UGH that inspector workaround somehow depresses me even more; what is this world coming to!! We need legislation for this. 😖 So glad you’re out of the woods and into your new house now!

Parasocially delighted by this update and very into the details of the aesthetic chaos you have inherited. Love to Louis resting his chin on the box <3 I am also moving soon and my 6yo rescue mutt is very unsettled by the sudden box invasion!

I just bought a house with my girlfriend earlier this year! Congrats!! I really never thought it was in the cards for us either in Denver but I'm so glad we did, it feels really good to be home o-es. (How many times have you made this joke? Personally I will never stop) Renovation projects and gardening and so. much. weeding feel WAY more fun when you're contributing to something that is yours. Re: the front loading washer, ours is also a stanky mess. What we've been doing is occasionally doing a load with just a cup of white vinegar, then the same load again with just baking soda. Lemi Shine washing machine cleaner also helps, and keeping the door cracked open at all times when it's not running.

Congratulations right back!! Well I don't know about you, but I have spent a lot of my own time and money fixing rental properties because the landlord refused!! I agree, so much more gratifying to work on your own stuff. I will employ these anti-stink tips.

Wow!! Congrats!! Watching your renovation tiktok almost convinced me that I could use tiktok in a healthy, non-life-ruining way, if it would only show me videos of people describing the number of accent walls in their newly purchased houses. Good luck with all the work to come!!

congrats!! very exciting and as much as i don't love doing DIY myself, i love reading about it, so more updates please. i bought a house in may (shout out to SC where it's still possible to afford a mortgage by ones self) and very glad to be done with the house hunting of it all - so many times i couldn't even tour the house before it got snatched up. also very glad i did an inspection, the HVAC had a gas leak which wouldn't have been caught otherwise until winter.

i inherited a backyard bamboo forest which is very beautiful but probably going to be a bane - luckily i've gotten two different neighbors wanting to pay me for the privilege of cutting some of the trees down for wood.

Congratulations on your new house and bamboo forestry operation!! Ugh, everyone should get an inspection. Our main sewer pipe was totally rusted out so if we had even used the toilet one time....disaster!!
